Disappointed, not my favorite book.

Congratulations, By The Way
by George Saunders

This book is actually a college commencement speech that George Saunders gave to a group of graduates. While a short book, it tells an important tale of kindness. I was enthralled by all that he said in such a short time. Kindness matters, now more than ever and I am so glad that I read this book.

Stranger in the looking glass

This was a new author for me to read. She did a good job of holding my attention. The story was interesting. But, I didn't care for the ending as it left you hanging as to what happens to the villain. It did make you want to find out what happens to the victim. Enough to read the next book in the series.

I did not finish this book - was dull- too politically and I just couldn't get into it.

Going Remote A Teacher's Journey
by Adam Bessie

Wow! I never thought that I would be able to enjoy a graphic novel, but this one jumped off each page as I read it. The art was interesting as the teacher's actual face was drawn on the screen toward the end. I related so much to this teacher as he reached out to his community college students during the pandemic. Not only did he deal with remote teaching, a new marriage, and the pandemic, but was also challenged with having a brain tumor removed! Adam Bessie brought it all together to tell his story of life during the pandemic and how he coped. A must-read for people who enjoy a happy ending.

Very good book. A book about devotion to sports & determination to accomplish your dreams. Jackie Joyner-Kersey is an excellent role model to young girls. This book shows them to not give up as you can achieve your dreams with determination and hard work. A good assortment of pictures & informative sidebars. Would give it more stars than 5.

This book is very moving. It takes you thru the author's life journey as well as her experience of finding out she has cancer, her treatment & recovery. She has a tremendous faith in God and you can feel it as you read her story. I would recommend it to my friends. (Free copies of the book are available at Buchanan Center for the Arts, Monmouth & also at Warren County Public Library,)Monmouth.
